WEF 3 and 4

Weeks 3 and 4 of WEF were a bit quieter for Eight Oaks but with great results. We also welcomed Isabel Stedman and her horse, Arrow K, to the group for these two weeks of showing. Week 3 resulted in some great ribbons and nice rounds in the ring.

Quite a few of our riders took week 4 off from showing but the horses that did show were super! Isabel Stedman and her horse, Arrow K, were 3rd over fences and 4th in the Older Children’s Hunters under saddle. We wish them a safe journey back home to North Carolina.

Janie Ware and her horse, Trump Card, had top ribbons in the younger Children’s Hunters and ended up Reserve Champion.

Martin Schlaeppi and I C London had quite an incredible weekend. Winning three of their five classes, Martin and London were Champion in the older Adult Hunters.

Annie Ingersoll’s new young horse, Gandalf, competed in his first hunter show ever. He received nice ribbons in all of his classes.

WEF 1 and WEF 2

Eight Oaks had a great start to the season! With 8 horse showing WEF 1 and 11 horses showing during WEF 2, it was a busy beginning but very successful!

Sherri Crawford’s horses had a tremendous start with Sherri winning an over fences class with Persuasion in the Low Adult division. Carento, shown by Sara Green, was Reserve Champion in the High Performance Hunter division and Calistro, also shown by Sara, was Reserve Champion in the 3′ Green Hunter division.

Megan Sizemore and her horse, First Look, were great in the Low Adults the first week and even better the next week in the younger Adult Amateurs. The second week was a big team effort! Megan got great ribbons the first day and then due to a conflicting flight home, we borrowed a couple of riders! Aizlynn Radwanski did a beautiful job hacking “Arthur” to a first place in the under saddle and Vanessa Mavek did a super job over fences. Everyone’s hard work led to First Look being Reserve Champion!

Janie Ware and her adorable horse, Trump Card, were super in the 14 and under Children’s Hunters! They received great ribbons both weeks with tough competition!

Isabel Stettinius is off to a fierce start with her new jumper, Alazan, in the 15-17 Children’s Jumpers. Such a talented duo, placing in the classics both weeks!

The Hellman’s, Channing, was super in the first week. “Tate” was quite competitive in the 3’3 Performance Hunters, placing in every class.

Abbie Taylor and Trending had an impressive start in the older 3’6 AO’s. They had great rounds and we are excited to this pair throughout the season!

Cortoni, owned by Lauren Pierce, has had a great Wellington debut. Starting out with great ribbons in the Low Adults the first week, and super rounds in the older Adult Amateurs the second week.

Ashley Hodges and Jet Stream K showed in the competitive older 3’3 AO’s and were fantastic! Great ribbons and a super handy round.

Ingrid Avera and her horse, Cadbury, showed week 2 and were very competitive, earning ribbons in every class of the Low Adult division.

Martin Schlaeppi and his hunter, I C London, were superstars both weeks. London and Johnny Barker received top ribbons in the 3’3 Performance Hunters during week 1 and Martin earned top ribbons both weeks in the older Adult Hunters, scoring an 87 during week 2.

Sara Green and Sugartown were fantastic week 2 in the 3′ Green hunters. Great ribbons with some tough competition.

Great job everyone!

We made it to Wellington!

Happy to announce that after many loads of horses and equipment, we are all settled in and ready for this winter season in Wellington! We are at two farms this season, our barn owned by Eight Oaks at 2120 Gray Mare Way and we rented a second farm around the corner at 2040 Canter Way. We are very excited to be in the warm weather. With 19 horses this with us, it is sure to be a busy season! Good luck to all!

WEF is a Wrap!

This has been an incredible winter here at WEF for Eight Oaks. We have had riders and horses make leaps and bounds in their riding and made some incredible new rider/horse partnerships! The saying, “it takes a village” has never been more true in regards to getting to the ring here at WEF, and we are so grateful to every single person that helps us achieve our goals inside and outside of the show ring. It is the smallest, most mundane details that certain people take such pride in that makes the difference.

Eight Oaks went out with a bang in week 12 of WEF!

Carlotta and Johnny started us off with a first and a third over fences in the First Year Greens! Ashley and Carlotta also had fantastic ribbons in the 3’3 AO olders! Certainly a strong finish to the season!

Isabel was great on her hunters this weekend! High scores on both Guest of Honor and Balenciaga but just out of the jogs! She was 7th on her jumper, Dicaprio, in the speed round of the Modified Children Jumpers!

Janie Ware had a great finish on her two horses, Welcome and Trump Card! A beautiful trip on Trump earned her a 4th in the younger Children’s! From starting at the low children’s at 2’6, Janie made so much progress this winter by jumping to the 3′ Children’s and eq classes!

Outside of showing, we were so excited to have Sherri Crawford get the ok to ride again! After being diagnosed with a detached retina in the beginning of the season, Sherri was one of Eight Oaks biggest cheerleaders, despite it all! We so appreciate her unwavering support and are thrilled to have her in the saddle again!

Now, we head home to our beautiful farm in Middleburg, VA! We have a little downtime to lesson, regroup and get organized for the rest of the year before we head to Tryon, NC in May. Congrats to all on a great 2016 WEF.

Congratulations, Sherri!

Congratulations to Sherri Crawford on her purchase of Persuasion!
